Apprentice at Neville Joinery Inspires Young Locals to Kickstart Their Career

LUTON, UK, June.24, 2026; One of Neville Joinery’s apprentice Bench Joiners, Quincey went back to his old school to inspire students thinking about a career in joinery.

Quincey’s apprenticeship began three years ago, where he had originally completed work experience with Neville’s, having developed a keen interest in the trade, woodworking as a hobby. He then was successful in applying for an apprenticeship program and is on track to complete it in October 2026. With Quincey’s apprenticeship coming to an end this year, this was the perfect opportunity to go back to his roots and talk about how an apprenticeship kickstarted his calling and placed him on the career ladder.

“I had a good day heading back to my old school, it was weird to be back and stand in front of some of the classes that I used to learn in and give advice and support to the year groups.”  Quincey states, reflecting on the day. He also mentions how comfortable the students at the school felt to ask questions: “Some of the year groups asked some good questions, most of them asked how much money I earned. It was good to see the teachers and for them to ask me how I am getting on, all in all a good day.”

Accompanying Quincey, was Krystal Bailey, Neville Trust Group’s Onboarding and Careers Lead; “It was a real pleasure to accompany Quincey back to The Chiltern Academy to speak with current apprentices and students about his journey into joinery and the benefits of choosing an apprenticeship route.

Quincey delivered an inspiring presentation, sharing why he chose a joinery apprenticeship, how much he has learned during his time at Neville Joinery, and the incredible support he has received from colleagues throughout his apprenticeship. It was a particularly special moment to see him return to his former school, where he was welcomed warmly by staff who remembered him and took the time to stop and say hello.

The school had even reserved a dedicated parking space for him, a gesture that reflected how proud they are of his achievements. Quincey’s journey with Neville Joinery began in 2023 when he approached us to request work experience in our joinery workshop, having developed a keen interest in the trade and taken up woodworking as a hobby. Following his work experience placement, Quincey successfully applied for an apprenticeship position and has gone on to become a valued member of the team.”
